Friends and colleagues,

As you are acutely aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected each of us, our libraries, and our patrons in numerous ways. This has forced us to adjust how we serve the public and how we work as librarians. It has also affected the Alabama Library Association in similar manners. We had to cancel our 2020 Convention in Birmingham and our upcoming PLD Midwinter conference.

In looking forward to the 2021 Convention, the Executive Council and I wanted to host a safe, cost effective conference for Alabama librarians and libraries. With this in mind, we voted to move the 2021 Convention to an online format from April 28-29, 2021. It will have a variety of guest speakers and informative educational sessions, while also incorporating a more flexible cost structure that allows libraries or library branches to register as a facility for all of its employees. Our Convention Planning Committee will release a full list of prices and solicit programming sessions in the coming months.

I am excited to explore this virtual option and hope that you are as well. As always, please let me know if you need any assistance on behalf of ALLA.

I look forward to seeing each of you next April!
