GODORT's Library of Congress Enslaved Narratives Webinar
Monday, December 07, 2020, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CDT
Category: Webinar

During the years 1936-1938 the Federal Writers’ Project, an initiative of the Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression, produced over 2300 interviews with the formerly enslaved documenting their lives and getting first-hand accounts of life under slavery. The Library of Congress has made a number of these narratives available online as written transcripts, some photographs, and even some audio recordings. Dr. Tim Dodge, History and Political Science Librarian at Auburn University, will provide a detailed examination of the project and will provide tips on navigating this fascinating historical resource.
