Dear Colleague:

Alabama libraries have a strong tradition of providing the information resources critical to developing an informed electorate. These institutions have provided the democratizing equality of opportunity that has helped to develop our state’s many artists, writers, and thinkers.

In Alabama schools, public libraries, colleges and universities, as well as in a range of specialized information agencies, our state’s librarians continue to connect individuals of all ages to resources, programming, and support. Whether it is promoting school readiness, ensuring academic success, or enabling lifelong learning, the Alabama Library Association serves to unify institutions serving different populations with this central educational mission.

With more technology tools and digitized resources than ever before, there’s never been a more exciting time to be a librarian. And today’s Alabama Library Association, our state’s American Library Association affiliate, strives to facilitate ongoing professional development and resource sharing to help information professionals continue to meet the evolving needs of our unique communities.

We hope that you will join us in our work. If you are a library or information professional, your membership will connect you to a range of colleagues with energy and ideas, sure to enrich your practice. If you are a community member or literacy advocate, there are conference and other sponsorship opportunities to reach libraries and librarians state-wide.

Thank you for your interest in our organization, and for supporting the institutions that are so fundamental to our democracy.
